Stationary circuit breaker with sentinel trip unit 42 kA 1600 A 3P HW1N316FB
Stationary circuit breaker with Sentinel trip unit, 1600 A, 3P, 42 kA
This device is a fixed, air circuit breaker intended for protecting installations in systems with voltage up to 690 V AC. It is designed as a component of a central distribution board where high making capacity and reliability under high short‑circuit currents are required. It is not a draw‑out breaker – it is mounted permanently, without the need for a DIN rail.
It has three poles and is equipped with four auxiliary changeover contacts that allow status signalling (on/off) and integration with automation or monitoring systems. It does not have breaking contacts or additional safeguards – its function is primarily to make and break under load and to provide short‑circuit protection.
The short‑circuit rating is 42 kA at 400 V AC, meaning it can safely interrupt a circuit even at the maximum short‑circuit current typical for large industrial installations. This value is confirmed for both the prospective short‑circuit current (Icu) and the service short‑circuit current (Ics), ensuring consistent performance under various conditions.
An integrated trip indicator allows quick assessment of the device’s state without opening the enclosure – important during inspections or faults. The closing time is 45 ms, providing fast and precise operation without delay.
Main terminals are designed for bus‑bar connections – ideal for panels with high mounting density. The internal resistance is only 25 µΩ, minimizing thermal losses and ensuring stable operation under continuous 1600 A loading.
The device does not have a built‑in motor drive, but it can accommodate one as an optional accessory, enabling remote control or process automation. It also lacks an integrated undervoltage trip or earth‑fault protection – these functions must be provided by other system components.
IP2X protection class means it does not protect against finger contact, so installation requires an appropriate enclosure or switchgear cabinet. This is typical for stationary breakers in industrial installations, where safety is ensured by the surrounding cabinet.
Compliant with IEC 60947-2 and IEC 60947-3, and meeting RoHS and REACH requirements. Mechanical life exceeds 30 000 cycles and electrical life over 8 000 load breakings. This is not a “one‑off” device – it is designed for decades of operation under extreme conditions.
It belongs to the HW1 series from Hager – known not only for technical capabilities but also for system consistency: all components of this series (trip units, drives, contacts) are mutually compatible.
