Stationary air circuit breaker with Sentinel trip unit, 1600 A, 4 poles
This device is a stationary air circuit breaker designed for use in medium‑ and high‑power switchgear where high breaking capacity and precise control are required. It is intended for industrial and commercial networks with a voltage up to 690 V AC, and its making capacity at 400 V is 55 kA — meaning it can safely interrupt even the most extreme faults without damage.
The construction advantage is four‑pole design with a bus‑bar connection — allowing easy and quick attachment to busbars without the need for cable connections. The device has no built‑in over‑current trip or earth‑fault protection — it functions as a pure breaker with a control mechanism, meaning its protective functions are provided by an external Sentinel trip unit (compatible with it).
It features a trip indicator that enables rapid visual diagnosis of the device status — without opening the enclosure. All four auxiliary contacts are change‑over, providing flexibility for integration with automation systems: status signalling, interlock locking, or remote control are possible without additional modules.
It is not mounted on a DIN rail and does not include a motor drive as standard — but can be equipped with an optional motor drive, allowing remote or automatic make‑and‑break operation. This is a key feature for installations where control from a central controller or BMS is required.
The IP2X protection rating indicates that the device has no enclosure — it is intended for mounting inside closed cabinets or protective chambers. It does not protect against contact with live parts, but it does protect against objects larger than 12 mm — in line with industrial installation standards.
Its closing time is 50 ms — typical for this type of equipment and guaranteeing rapid re‑energisation after a trip. The internal resistance is only 25 µΩ — minimising heat loss and reducing temperature rise under load.
Compliant with IEC 60947-2 and IEC 60947-3, and meeting RoHS and REACH requirements. It operates reliably in industrial conditions — mechanical life exceeds 30 000 cycles, electrical life 8 000 load‑break operations.
For the installer: simplicity of mounting and integration
Installation is permanent — no need for connection cables; simply attach the busbars. The absence of an internal trip unit greatly simplifies the selection of protection parameters: you can match a Sentinel trip unit precisely to the circuit characteristics — from motors to heating systems or UPSs.
An optional motor drive enables integration with automation systems without adding extra relays or control modules. The trip indicator eliminates the need to test the device status with a meter — just look.
For the end user: reliability and durability
This is not a “temporary” device — it is designed for a decade of operation under extreme conditions. There are no “secret” functions or excessive embellishments. It is an industrial tool: robust, simple, proven over thousands of cycles. When the system trips — you can be sure it does so safely and without damage.
