Stationary circuit breaker with Sentinel trip unit – 1000 A, 4P, 66 kA
This device is intended for fixed installation in low‑voltage switchgear where high breaking capacity and reliability in industrial conditions are required. It is designed as the main protective element for circuits with high rated currents – especially where motors, transformers or other loads with high inrush currents are present.
It has four poles and is equipped with four auxiliary switching contacts that allow status indication (on/off) or integration with automation systems. It does not have make‑before‑break contacts nor additional closing contacts – the construction focuses on the basic protective and control function.
The rated short‑circuit breaking capacity is 66 kA at 400 V, meaning the device can safely interrupt a circuit even under extreme fault currents without damage to its own construction. It operates in a voltage range of 440 to 690 V, making it suitable for both 400 V three‑phase networks and higher industrial voltages.
The main contacts are connected by busbar connection – direct cable termination to the terminals is not possible. This means the installer must design appropriate busbars or busbar systems, which is typical for large industrial switchgear. The mounting is permanent – it cannot be mounted on a DIN rail nor withdrawn as a plug‑in module.
An integrated trip indicator allows quick assessment of the device’s status without opening the enclosure – important for diagnostics or faults. There is no built‑in motor drive, but it supports an optional motor drive, providing the possibility of remote control or automation of the make/break process.
IP2X protection class provides basic protection against accidental contact with live parts – but does not protect against dust or water. The device is intended for installation in closed, controlled spaces – e.g., in switchgear cabinets secured against unauthorized access.
It does not include an integrated over‑voltage trip unit or earth‑fault protection – these functions must be added externally if required by the installation design.
In practice:
- For the installer: a robust component for large switchgear that requires precise busbar design and appropriate compatibility with the control system.
- For the end user: guarantees circuit stability and safety even in heavily loaded systems – e.g., production lines, pumps, fans or cooling systems.
