Power switch with motor drive 2500 A HIB494M
Power switch with motor drive – maintenance‑free switching between sources
The device enables automatic and remote switching of the load between two power sources – e.g., public grid and emergency generator – without manual intervention. The motor drive operates smoothly and repeatably, eliminating the risk of error during emergency operations.
It has four poles and is designed for 400 V AC systems, with a rated continuous current of 2500 A. It can safely conduct currents up to 78 kA for short durations, meaning it is ready for extreme short‑circuit conditions typical of large industrial installations or critical public facilities.
It is designed as a main, safety and maintenance disconnect – therefore it meets all requirements for circuit isolation from voltage during servicing. It is not an emergency stop, so it is not intended for rapid disconnection in hazardous situations, but for controlled switching between sources.
Its construction is a permanently mounted unit – installed directly on the distribution board, not on a DIN rail. Accidental release is prevented by a locking mechanism: after switching, the device remains in position until deliberately unlocked. This is a key feature for installations where random power interruption must be avoided.
With two auxiliary normally‑closed contacts you can signal the switch status – e.g., “source A active” or “source B active” – facilitating integration with SCADA systems or monitoring panels. There are no switching or diverter contacts, so it is not used for controlling auxiliary circuits.
Rated operating power is 562 kW for AC-3 (motors) and up to 720 kW for AC-23 (mixed loads). This means it can handle large generators such as pumps, fans, or production lines without risk of overheating or contact damage.
It can be connected only by cable lugs – there is no bus‑bar or screw‑type option. Protection class IP00 indicates it is not protected against dust or moisture, therefore installation is limited to closed switchgear cabinets where environmental conditions are controlled.
There is no optional voltage trigger or separate motor drive – the drive is built‑in and integral. In other words, if you need automatic switching, this model is ready out of the box; nothing additional is required.
It is compatible only with panel‑mount installation – not suitable for front‑mount or intermediate mounting. Its sole function is clear: to ensure power continuity through safe and repeatable switching between two sources.
