Power switch with motor drive 630 A HIB463M
Motor‑driven power switch – solution for critical circuits
This device is not a simple disconnect – it is a power‑switching system between two sources, designed for load‑bearing operation and protected against hazardous situations. It is intended for mounting in distribution panels where reliable, remote and manual power control is required – e.g., in tertiary installations, hospitals, data centres or facilities with emergency systems.
It has four poles and is designed for operation at 380–415 V AC. At this voltage it can safely carry a continuous current of 630 A, and its making capacity at 400 V is 414 kW – meaning it can safely switch circuits with motors, heaters or other loads that have high inrush currents. The Iq value of 50 kA confirms its resistance to short‑circuit effects – it will not be damaged even under extreme fault currents.
Motor drive and locking mechanism – safe and precise switching
The built‑in motor drive allows remote switching between the two power sources – without the need for physical access to the device. It operates in three stable positions: I (source A) – 0 (off) – II (source B). Switching between positions I and II occurs under load, eliminating the need to de‑energise the entire circuit before changing the source.
The locking mechanism prevents accidental switching – e.g., during service or a fault. It can be additionally locked with a key, meeting safety requirements for maintenance work. An emergency manual handle enables manual switching even when the drive power is absent.
Compatibility and installation – ready for panel mounting
The device is designed as permanent equipment of a distribution panel – it is not mounted on a DIN rail or front‑mounted. Its construction allows direct cable connection via terminals, and the generous terminal area facilitates wire routing and the use of busbars. It functions simultaneously as a main disconnect, safety disconnect and maintenance disconnect – fulfilling all key functions required by standards for high‑reliability systems.
The single auxiliary (make‑before‑break) contact enables integration with control systems or status signalling. The absence of a voltage release or optional drive means the device operates solely as a mechanical switch – without additional automatic logic. This is its strength: simplicity, robustness and a clear function.
An IP00 protection rating on the front face indicates that it is not isolated from contact with external elements – therefore it must be installed inside a closed distribution panel. It does not serve as an emergency stop; its purpose is not to cut power in a sudden fault, but to provide controlled switching between sources.
