Solution for Wastewater Treatment of Oils and Fats
The coalescing separator SKBPPE 06/0600 is a device designed for the effective separation of petroleum-based substances and organic fats from rainwater and process water. The unit combines the functions of a sedimentation chamber, a separation compartment, and a by-pass system, enabling safe discharge of excess water during heavy rainfall or emergency situations. Thanks to the use of polyethylene (PE) as the primary material, the construction is resistant to chemical corrosion and difficult soil conditions, making it suitable for both indoor installation and underground outdoor placement.
Application and Operating Principle
The device is intended for installation in locations where there is a risk of wastewater contamination with mineral oil or organic fats – typical for gas stations, car washes, parking lots, and production halls. The nominal flow rate of 30 l/s allows handling of medium and high hydraulic loads. Contaminated water enters the sedimentation chamber with a capacity of 600 liters, where preliminary removal of heavy solid fractions occurs. The liquid then flows through the coalescing layer, where small oil droplets merge into larger clusters and rise to the surface, from where they are removed during maintenance.
In the event of a sudden increase in flow (e.g., during a storm), the built-in by-pass system automatically directs excess water around the separation chamber, protecting the installation from overload and preventing the flushing out of collected contaminants. The entire unit fits within dimensions of 2910 x 1200 x 1040 mm, facilitating planning of the installation space even under limited site conditions.
Key Construction and Operational Features
The device is distinguished by its polyethylene (PE) construction, ensuring durability and resistance to chemicals present in industrial wastewater as well as atmospheric conditions. The cover is designed to withstand a load of 400 kN, meaning it can be installed under roads for heavy vehicles or traffic zones without the need for additional load-bearing protections. The total capacity of the separator is 1315 liters, with the sedimentation chamber itself accommodating 600 liters of sludge, thereby extending intervals between cleaning services. The unit effectively removes both mineral oils (e.g., gasoline, diesel) and organic fats (e.g., kitchen waste). With a self-weight of approximately 203 kg, the unit is relatively lightweight compared to concrete equivalents, facilitating transport and handling during installation using standard lifting equipment.
Installation of the device requires maintaining appropriate distances from other installations and ensuring access to service covers for regular emptying of the sedimentation chamber and removal of the floating oil layer. In accordance with standards, the device holds a Declaration of Conformity No. 1129, confirming its technical parameters and suitability for applications requiring protection of water environments from petroleum-based contamination.
