Halogen-free control and power cable – reliability and safety in every application.
This shielded MEGAFLEX 500-C 2X4 mm² halogen-free cable is an optimal solution for both professional installers and end-users looking for a high-quality control and power cable. It provides safe and reliable connections in a wide range of applications, from machine and device construction, through air conditioning systems, to ship structures and installations in renewable energy sources. The cable's construction guarantees resistance to harsh environmental conditions and ensures long-term operation.
Construction and properties
The MEGAFLEX 500-C cable stands out with its advanced construction, which combines a number of important features. Made from high-quality materials, it meets stringent safety standards. Multi-wire copper conductors, class 5 (flexible), provide flexibility and facilitate installation. The core insulation is made of a special halogen-free polymer, which minimizes the risk of toxic gas formation in the event of a fire. In addition, a braid screen made of tinned copper wires (85% coverage) effectively protects against electromagnetic interference (EMC), which is crucial in sensitive applications. This braid should have a comprehensive, bilateral contact with the terminals (e.g. cable glands) for optimal EMC performance. The whole is surrounded by a durable outer jacket made of halogen-free polymer in grey (RAL 7001).
Applications and benefits
The MEGAFLEX 500-C cable is perfect for the following areas:
- Machine and device construction: Flexibility and resistance to mechanical stress make it ideal for use in dynamic environments.
- Air conditioning systems: Resistance to atmospheric factors and UV radiation guarantees reliable operation in harsh conditions.
- Ship structures: Halogen-free properties provide additional safety on board the ship.
- Renewable energy sources (e.g. wind turbines): Resistance to external conditions and protection against electromagnetic interference are crucial in such installations.
- Industrial installations: A wide range of operating temperatures (-40°C to +80°C) allows the cable to be used in demanding industrial applications.
Additional advantages:
- Halogen-free: Reduces the emission of toxic gases during a fire, increasing the safety of people and property.
- Oil and grease resistance: Enables the use of the cable in industrial environments exposed to chemical substances.
- UV resistance: Ensures durability and reliability of installations exposed to sunlight.
- Flexibility: Facilitates installation and routing of cables in tight spaces.
- Shielding: Minimizes electromagnetic interference, ensuring stable signal transmission.
- Compliance with standards: Meets the requirements of DIN VDE 0285-525-3-11/ DIN EN 50525-3-11 and UL-Style 20939, UL-Std.758, confirming its high quality and safety of use.
The cable has a nominal conductor cross-section of 4 mm², a rated voltage U of 500 V and an approximate outer diameter of 9.8 mm. The cores are marked with numbers according to DIN VDE 0293, which facilitates identification during installation. The permissible ambient temperature during installation is from -30°C to +80°C and after installation (without vibration) from -40°C to +80°C.
