Single-core PVC UL/CSA wire – reliability and versatility of applications

This single-core wire with PVC insulation, designated as UL Style 1007, is a proven choice for internal electrical and control installations. UL and CSA approval guarantees compliance with stringent safety and quality standards, which translates into reliable operation and long-term use. This wire is particularly recommended for wiring control cabinets, household appliances, audio-video equipment, and as a connecting wire in machines and devices.

Specification and properties

The wire has a nominal cross-section of 0.82 mm², which corresponds to AWG 18. Its approximate outer diameter is 2.3 mm. The rated voltage U0/U is 300 V, making it suitable for most standard applications. The wire is designed to operate at temperatures from -30°C to +80°C in stationary mode and from -5°C to +80°C in flexible mode (CSA-AWM I A/B or TR 64 allows operation up to +90°C). Tests were carried out at a breakdown voltage of 5kV (for AWG 18). The minimum bending radius is 5x outer diameter for stationary installations and 10x outer diameter for flexible installations.

This wire is resistant to oils, solvents, acids, bases and lyes – which increases its durability in harsh environmental conditions. It also has UL VW-1 and CSA FT1 certificates confirming its self-extinguishing and fire-resistant properties. Available in gray color (color code 06), it facilitates wire identification in the installation.
