Power cable for inverters – reliability and electromagnetic compatibility
This specialized PVC cable, designated TOPFLEX®-EMV-3-PLUS-2YSLCY-J, is designed for efficient and safe power supply to motors connected to frequency converters. The cable's construction, compliant with DIN VDE 0250, guarantees high flexibility and ease of installation, which will be appreciated by both installers and end-users. This cable finds application in various industrial environments where reliability and resistance to electromagnetic interference are required.
Construction and properties
The cable is characterized by a 3x2.5+3G0.5 mm² construction, meaning three cores with a cross-section of 2.5 mm² and three protective cores with a cross-section of 0.5 mm². Made of copper, it has polyethylene (PE) insulation for the working cores and an external coating of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), providing resistance to mechanical damage and atmospheric factors. A key element is the double shielding – aluminum tape and copper braid – which minimizes the impact of electromagnetic interference on device operation. The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 10.8 mm.
This cable was designed with the requirements of modern industrial installations in mind. Thanks to the use of a special PVC mixture, it provides excellent flexibility during assembly and use. Cores twisted in concentric layers and symmetrical arrangement of PE cores further improve the electromagnetic compatibility of the entire system. The transparent PVC coating facilitates identification of colored cores in accordance with DIN VDE 0293-308.

Remember to properly connect the shield on both sides of the cable – in accordance with EN 55011 – to fully utilize its interference suppression properties. This will avoid problems with the operation of devices sensitive to electromagnetic interference. The cable meets the requirements regarding behavior during fire in accordance with DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 and IEC 60332-1.
