Cable for inverters – reliability and electromagnetic compatibility

This black, four-core halogen-free cable from the TOPFLEX®-06-EMV-UV series is designed to power inverters and motors with frequency converters. The cable's construction is designed to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMC), which is crucial in modern electrical installations where precise device operation is a priority. The cores in colors according to DIN VDE 0293-308 facilitate identification and connection, and the screen of foil and braid provides additional protection against interference.

Construction and practical application

The cable is characterized by a core cross-section of 1.5 mm² and is made of copper, which guarantees good electrical conductivity. The core insulation made of polyethylene (PE) ensures safety and durability. This cable finds application in the automotive, food, environmental technology, packaging industry and machine tools. It can be used in both fixed and occasionally movable installations, in dry, damp or wet rooms and outdoors – direct laying in the ground requires the use of appropriate cable bedding. It is worth remembering the manufacturer's recommendation regarding the all-round, circumferential contact of the copper braid with EMC cable glands for optimal electromagnetic compatibility.

Safety and compliance with standards

The halogen-free outer jacket (class a1 according to EN 13501-6) minimizes the emission of toxic gases in the event of a fire, increasing the safety of users and installations. The cable meets the requirements of IEC 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-3-24 (cat. C) confirming its fire resistance. Additionally, it has low smoke emission (s2 according to EN 13501-6) and is compliant with IEC 60754-1 and IEC 60754-2 confirming the absence of halogen content. The maximum operating temperature of the core is 90°C, allowing operation in demanding thermal conditions. The cable weight is 205 kg/km and its approximate outer diameter is 11.3 mm. The minimum bending radius during installation is 56.5 mm for fixed installations and 113 mm for movable installations without guidance.
