Compensating chokes – optimization of electrical installation operation
INK compensating chokes are elements used to limit inrush currents when switching on inductive devices, such as motors or transformers. Using a choke reduces voltage drops in the network and improves the stability of the installation. The INK 1-2.5-230V model is designed to operate in single-phase networks with a voltage of 230V and a power of 2.5 kVar.
Characteristics and application
The INK 1-2.5-230V choke is primarily used in power circuits for devices with high current draw during start-up. This protects overcurrent circuit breakers from unnecessary tripping and ensures reliable operation of connected receivers. This is particularly important in the case of frequent switching on and off of inductive devices. The compensating choke also helps to reduce electromagnetic interference generated by these devices, which translates to improved power quality.

INK chokes are characterized by a solid construction based on a winding made of copper (Cu) and protected by vacuum impregnation in class H varnish, which ensures high resistance to environmental conditions and long-term operation. They are equipped with a bimetallic normally open switch, which provides additional protection against overload. The choke operates in continuous mode (100% duty cycle) and is naturally cooled (AN). The IP00 protection class means there is no protection against access to live parts, therefore installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician. Insulation class F (155°C) ensures safe operation in a wide range of ambient temperatures (up to 40°C).
The INK 1-2.5-230V choke has a rated voltage of 230V, a power of 2.5 kVar, and a current of 10.87 A. It has an inductance of 67 mH and dimensions of 150 x 145 x 150 x 122 x 130 x 7x13 mm with a weight of 12.5 kg. The winding is made of copper (Cu), and the insulation class is F (155°C).
INK chokes are manufactured in accordance with EN/IEC 61558-2-20 and EN/IEC 60076-6 standards and undergo high-voltage tests (3 kV for 1 minute), which guarantees their safety and reliability. Mounting is done using angle brackets.
