Digital Input/Output Module – a versatile solution for automation

The OB-215 module is a universal device designed to collect data from various sensors and control loads. It is ideal for building automation systems, industrial monitoring, and applications requiring precise measurement and control. Communication is via the MODBUS protocol, ensuring easy integration with existing control systems, including the EM series controllers from Novatek-Elektro.

Flexibility and adaptability

OB-215 offers a wide range of applications thanks to the ability to connect different types of sensors: voltage (0–10 V), current (0–20 mA), temperature (NTC, PTC, PT1000, D18B20), pulse (water, gas, electricity meters) and digital (Arduino, open collector sensors, 1-Wire, I2C). It can function as a temperature controller, pulse relay with configurable frequency, protocol converter (UART to MODBUS) or a module for controlling a load up to 5 A. Additionally, it allows monitoring of alarm status and other binary signals.

Functions and applications in practice

The OB-215 module can operate in several modes: load control based on thresholds, pulse counter and RS-485 interface for communication with PLCs. The RS-485 interface allows cooperation with other devices using the MODBUS RTU/ASCII protocol. In combination with the Novatek-Elektro EM-481/486 PLC, a convenient configuration interface is available via the Overvis cloud server. This enables remote management and monitoring of device operating parameters.

Construction features and operating parameters

OB-215 is mounted on a standard 35 mm DIN rail and is characterized by compact dimensions (90x18x64 mm). Power is supplied by 12 or 24 V DC. The device has LED indicators informing about data exchange via RS-485, the status of the relay output and the presence of supply voltage. The housing is made of self-extinguishing plastic ensuring safe use. Wires are connected using screw terminals with a cross-section of 0.5 – 1.0 mm². The device meets the standards EN 60947-1; EN 60947-6-2; EN 55011; EN 61000-4-2, which guarantees its reliability and safety of operation.
