Digital input/output module – versatile application in automation

The OB-216 module is a universal device that can be used in many automation and monitoring systems. It allows for remote measurement of various physical parameters, control of loads, and communication with other devices using Modbus RTU/ASCII and USB protocols. Its flexibility makes it ideal for both professional installers and end-users who need precise monitoring and control.

Functions and capabilities

OB-216 can function as a remote DC voltage meter (0–10 V) and DC current meter (0–20 mA). Moreover, it allows connecting various temperature sensors – analog (NTC 10KB, PTC 1000, PT 1000) and digital (D18B20, DHT21, DHT22, AM2301). This allows you to monitor temperature over a wide range and with high accuracy. The pulse counter function with result storage in memory allows for precise event counting. Additionally, the module monitors the status of a dry contact input, informing about its opening or closing.

OB-216 also provides load control via an analog output signal (0–10 V or 0–20 mA), which is adjusted based on readings from the connected sensor. This solution is ideal for precise control of valves, inverters and other actuators.

Communication and integration with systems

The module is equipped with RS-485 and USB interfaces, enabling easy integration with existing automation systems. Communication is via the Modbus RTU/ASCII protocol, ensuring compatibility with most PLCs and SCADA systems. This allows you to read data from sensors and control the device remotely.

Example applications include controlling an inverter based on temperature sensor readings, controlling a three-way valve in heating systems, or converting analog signals (e.g. 0–10 V to 4–20 mA). The module also works well in applications requiring precise pulse measurement and contact status monitoring.
