This converter, designated EM-482, is a versatile device enabling Modbus communication between devices with an RS-485 interface and TCP/IP networks via Wi-Fi. This is an ideal solution for integrating older systems using RS-485 with modern network infrastructure. It allows remote access to data and control of devices on the Modbus network.
Flexibility and configurability
EM-482 offers a wide range of RS-485 communication settings, allowing adaptation to different network configurations. The ability to choose master or slave mode, RTU or ASCII protocol, transmission speed, parity control, and the number of stop bits ensures compatibility with most Modbus devices. Additionally, the converter has configurable query redirection, which increases flexibility in data management.
Security and remote management
Data security is crucial, therefore EM-482 offers access protection with passwords at different levels – to read the device status, configuration, Modbus network connection, and data reading/writing. The ability to update the firmware allows for the introduction of new features and improvements in the future. The converter also enables real-time operation monitoring, reading parameters of connected devices, and remote control of them. SMS and email notifications and a history of parameters in the form of graphs facilitate proactive system management.
Applications and additional features
The converter supports simultaneous connection with up to 247 Modbus devices. The EM-482-1 version is equipped with an external antenna, which improves the quality of the Wi-Fi connection in difficult conditions – e.g., in metal control cabinets where the signal may be attenuated. The device operates in a wide temperature range from -35°C to 55°C and has a supply voltage of 7-30V DC. Mounting is done on a DIN rail, which facilitates installation in control cabinets. The converter has LEDs indicating the device's operating status.
