This three-pole Type 1+2 surge limiter is a key element ensuring the safety and reliability of the electrical installation. It is designed to protect against the effects of atmospheric and switching surges, which can damage sensitive electronic devices. This limiter is used in both residential and industrial buildings, where surge protection is particularly important.

The V50-3-280 limiter effectively protects against the effects of current surges up to 12.5 kA (10/350 µs) per pole, and up to 37.5 kA in total. Thanks to its Type 1+2 protection class, it provides comprehensive protection against both direct and indirect lightning strikes. Mounting on a TH-35 mm DIN rail makes integration with the existing installation simple and quick.

Functionality and application

This limiter is designed to operate in TN-C, TN-S and TN networks, making it a universal solution for different types of installations. Its compact design (only 3 modules) saves space in the distribution box. Optical indication of operation facilitates identification of a damaged limiter and quick replacement of the insert. The rated voltage of AC 230V and DC 350V makes these limiters compatible with most standard electrical installations.

It is worth noting the L-N protection level of 1.3 kV – this guarantees effective protection against high-energy surges. The maximum wire cross-section of 35 mm² allows connection of cables of various thicknesses, adapting to the needs of a specific installation. This limiter is used in potential equalization in lightning protection according to VDE 0185-305 (IEC 62305), especially in buildings with an external lightning protection system of level (LPL) III and IV.

Construction features and additional information

The limiter's construction is based on replaceable inserts with a dynamic disconnecting device and optical damage indication – this facilitates servicing and replacement of elements in the event of a failure. The housing made of self-extinguishing plastic (UL 94 V-0) ensures safe use even in the event of a short circuit or overheating. Mechanical protection of the inserts prevents accidental ejection during transport or operation. Additionally, voltage coding prevents the installation of an incorrect insert in the limiter base.
