Safety in Hazardous Areas
This 230 V power socket with a rated current of 63 A has been designed for demanding industrial environments where explosion risk is real. The device complies with rigorous standards for explosive atmospheres: zones 1, 2, 21, and 22, offering ED (increased safety) type explosion protection. This allows safe installation in locations containing gases and dusts of hazard class II A.
The housing, made of polyamide, features a very compact design, facilitating installation in tight spaces while ensuring high mechanical resistance. The IP66/67 protection rating guarantees dust and water tightness—the device can even be immersed under short-term conditions, making it an ideal choice for outdoor applications or production halls requiring frequent washing. IK08 impact resistance further enhances protection against mechanical damage during transport or operation.
Construction and Connection Reliability
A key element of this solution is the silver contacts equipped with front pressure. This design ensures a stable electrical connection even with high inrush currents, minimizing the risk of overheating at the contact point. The protective contact position indicator set at the 9 o'clock position (in the context of the socket) and the presence of the protective contact itself increase operational safety.
The housing material is black plastic (in accordance with the color identification for this specific model), distinguishing it from standard blue 230 V sockets and preventing accidental connection of the wrong cable. The cable entry direction is straightforward, facilitating installation using standard cable glands.
Applications and Practical Benefits
The "Connector" type device is ideal where quick and safe power replacement for heavy equipment is required:
- Hazardous Areas: Perfect for installation in refineries, chemical plants, or flammable material storage facilities (gas and dust zones).
- Outdoor Conditions: Resistance to moisture and dust allows operation without additional covers in harsh atmospheric conditions.
- Durability: The polyamide housing and silver contacts guarantee long service life even with intensive connection and disconnection cycles.
It is worth noting that despite its compact design, the device maintains full functionality of the EN 60309-2 standard solutions for 230 V (blue color coding for the voltage itself, although the housing is black for EX type identification). This solution combines explosion-proof safety with the practicality of a standard industrial connector system. The device handles up to 63 A across three poles, allowing connection of high-power equipment without the need for additional intermediate distribution boards. The entire unit operates within a frequency range of 50–60 Hz, ensuring versatility across different power networks.
