Power supply in hazardous areas
This device is a fixed socket outlet designed for installation in hazardous areas where safety is a priority. Its construction based on synthetic material (polyamide) ensures resistance to corrosion and mechanical damage, which is crucial in difficult industrial conditions. The housing is characterized by very compact dimensions, facilitating installation in spaces with limited room, while simultaneously meeting the impact resistance requirements of class IK08. Thanks to this, the device will not be damaged even by accidental strikes with tools or falling objects.
A key safety element is the use of flameproof protection type Ex d (ED), which allows for safe operation in zones 1, 2, 21, and 22. This means the socket can be used in the presence of both gases (hazard class IIA) and dusts. Inside the housing, there are silver contacts with front pressure – such a solution guarantees low transition resistance and minimizes the risk of overheating of connections under long-term load with a rated current of 63 A.
Application and electrical parameters
The device is used for permanent power connection to mobile or portable devices requiring high power. It is an ideal solution for industrial installations, such as:
- Chemical and petrochemical plants
- Waste incinerators
- Mills and food processing plants (where dust is present)
- Fuel filling stations
The mains voltage is 230 V, and the system is three-pole (3 poles). The identification color of the housing is black, which is the standard for devices intended for hazardous areas, facilitating their quick identification against other installations. The position indicator of the protective contact is set to the 9 o'clock position, facilitating the inspection of the connection status during installation and maintenance. It is worth remembering that the device handles a current of 63 A at a voltage of 230 V (frequency 50/60 Hz), and its construction includes a protective contact. The explosion hazard class for gases is IIA, and for dusts, it covers zones 21 and 22.
Installation and cable routing
Installation of the device requires the use of appropriate cable glands with M25 thread, ensuring cable entry sealing and maintaining an IP67 degree of protection. The cable entry direction is straight, simplifying cable routing in distribution boards or directly on the wall. The housing material not only protects the interior from external factors but also provides electrical insulation, increasing operational safety.
It is worth paying attention to the specifics of installation in hazardous areas:
- Original sealing elements supplied with the product or compliant with the standard must be used without exception.
- Tightening of the mounting screws must be performed in accordance with the tightening torque specified by the manufacturer to maintain the integrity of the flameproof chamber.
- The device has a protective contact, which must be correctly connected to the grounding conductor before applying voltage – this is a necessary condition for the safety of people and equipment.
Thanks to the use of polyamide with high thermal and mechanical strength, the device maintains its properties even with large fluctuations in ambient temperature, making it a reliable component in emergency or continuous power supply systems in difficult industrial environments.
