Compensating chokes – optimization of electrical installation operation
The INK 230V 1-phase compensating choke is an element used to improve the power factor in electrical installations. Its task is to compensate for reactive power, which translates into reduced energy losses, network load and potential costs associated with penalties from the energy supplier. INK compensating chokes are particularly useful in circuits with inductive loads, such as electric motors, transformers, fluorescent lamps and many other devices. By introducing appropriate inductance, the choke reduces reactive power consumption, which results in:

Construction and parameters
INK chokes are characterized by a solid construction based on a winding made of copper (Cu) and protected by vacuum impregnation in class H varnish, hardened in the furnace. This ensures high durability and resistance to environmental conditions. These devices are designed for continuous operation (100% duty cycle) at a rated frequency of 50 Hz. In addition, they are equipped with a thermal bimetallic trip switch, which protects the circuit against overload. The degree of protection IP00 indicates a lack of protection against access to live parts and against the influence of the external environment – therefore, the choke should be mounted in a protective housing.
Various models of INK chokes are available with different powers (kVar) and currents (A), allowing you to choose the appropriate element for specific installation needs. The choice of the appropriate choke depends on the characteristics of the inductive load and the required power factor value. It is worth paying attention to the inductance tolerance (+/-3%), which affects the accuracy of reactive power compensation.
