Motor starter in a direct-on-line (DOL) enclosure

The LE1M35Q722 starter from the TeSys LE series is a complete starting system designed for the direct starting of three-phase squirrel cage motors. When combined with appropriate short-circuit protection elements, it provides Type 1 or Type 2 coordination - depending on the selected protective devices. The device is supplied in a sealed wall-mounted enclosure, ready for connection and operation.

Construction and components

The enclosure contains all necessary components in a single module:

• LC1K Contactor - performs the switching of the motor's main circuit,
• LR2K Thermal overload relay - protects the motor from the effects of overload,
• Green Start button "I" - motor start,
• Red Stop/Reset button "O/R" - stops operation and manually resets the thermal relay,
• Yellow operating indicator - signals the activity of the contactor coil; according to the manufacturer's data, it also allows for the primary detection of coil faults,
• Grounding and neutral terminal located at the bottom of the enclosure.

The enclosure has dimensions of 78 × 160 × 108 mm and is manufactured to an IP65 protection class, which means full protection against dust and water jets from any direction. This makes the device suitable for harsh industrial conditions - dust, moisture, and accidental splashes are not a problem.

Operating parameters and protection

The overload trip setting range is 12-16 A, allowing the protection to be selected for a specific motor. The thermal relay operates in trip class 10 - a standard for most industrial applications with squirrel cage motors. The design includes temperature compensation, so the trip characteristic does not change significantly under the influence of ambient temperature.

The maximum operating temperature is 40°C. The coil control voltage is 380 V AC (50/60 Hz). Connection of both the main contacts and the auxiliary circuit is made via screw terminals - durable and resistant to loosening due to vibration.

The device is not equipped with a fuse link or a short-circuit trip unit - these elements are selected separately by the installer, allowing the protection level to be matched to the specifics of the installation.

Operation and signaling

Two control buttons enable manual switching on and off of the motor directly from the enclosure. The yellow indicator informs about the operating status of the contactor coil. The manufacturer provides for the possibility of external resetting of the overload relay.

The device does not support any communication protocols (no Modbus, PROFIBUS, CAN, EtherNet/IP, or others) - it is a classic electromechanical starter that requires no programming or integration with SCADA systems.

Environmental compliance

Schneider Electric labels this product with the Green Premium label. This means, among other things:

• packaging made from recycled cardboard,
• availability of environmental data (carbon footprint at approximately 107 kg eq. CO₂ over the entire product life cycle),
• declared compliance with current regulatory requirements regarding environmental impact.

The product is not suitable for DIN rail mounting - it is mounted directly on a wall or mounting plate.
