This cable is designed for permanent laying indoors, in cable ducts and directly in the ground. Thanks to the use of cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation, it is characterized by better electrical parameters, smaller dimensions and weight compared to cables with polyvinyl insulation. This translates into easier installation and cost savings.
Construction and properties
The cable construction is based on flexible copper wires, available in various classes (RE, RM, SM), which ensures flexibility and facilitates routing of wires. The core insulation made of XLPE provides high resistance to mechanical damage and weather conditions. The strands are twisted into a core, and the whole is surrounded by a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheath with increased flame retardancy – meeting the PN-EN 60332-3 standard. This means that the cable limits the spread of flames in the event of a fire.
It is worth paying attention to the special versions of the cable:
- YKXSżo-O: designed for environments exposed to contact with petroleum-based materials (e.g. petrol stations). The coating is made of oil-resistant PVC.
- XnKXSżo: halogen-free cables – ideal where fire safety is a priority. In the event of a fire, they emit minimal smoke and corrosive gases.
- XnKXS: cables armored with steel wires or steel tape – provide additional mechanical protection in places exposed to damage.
