Multilayer pipes for water supply and heating installations

Uponor MLC multilayer pipe is an advanced solution for water supply and heating installations, combining the advantages of metal and plastic pipes. The construction consisting of five layers – two layers of polyethylene (PE-RT), an aluminum layer and adhesives – ensures high durability, corrosion resistance and oxygen diffusion tightness. The pipe is flexible, which facilitates installation, while maintaining its shape stability. Available in white color, designed for use in both residential and commercial construction.

Construction and properties

The Uponor MLC pipe is characterized by a unique construction that provides it with exceptional properties. The aluminum layer acts as an anti-diffusion barrier, preventing oxygen from penetrating the heating installation and protecting it from corrosion. The PE-RT polyethylene layers provide flexibility and resistance to high temperatures (up to 95°C short-term). This makes the pipe ideal for use in underfloor heating systems, water supply installations and heating systems with radiators. The value of the coefficient of thermal expansion is 0.025 mm/(m.K), which should be taken into account during installation design. The minimum bending radius of the pipe is 160 mm, allowing for easy adaptation to complex installation layouts.

Application and compliance with standards

Uponor MLC pipes are intended for use in water supply and heating installations with a maximum working pressure of 10 bar at a temperature of 20°C. They meet the requirements of standards PN-EN ISO 21003-1, PN-EN ISO 21003-2, PN-EN ISO 21003-3 and PN-EN ISO 21003-5, which guarantees their safety and reliability. Fire classification E according to PN-EN 13501-1 confirms their fire resistance. These pipes are compatible with dedicated Uponor S-Press PPSU and brass fittings, ensuring tight and durable connections.
