Reducing Tee – Safe and Fast Connection in Copper Installations
The Profipress 2418 Tee is an element designed for creating branches in copper installations where a reduction in pipe diameter is required – for example, from 22 mm to 15 mm. All three connections are press-fit couplings, meaning installation is performed using the Profipress press, without the need for a torch, welding, or threading. The entire component is made of copper, with EPDM seals approved for contact with potable water and heating systems.
Each connection features the built-in SC-Contur – a safety technology that physically prevents leaky installations. If the fitting is not fully pressed, its surface remains smooth and does not form the characteristic “loop” – indicating immediately during pressure testing (with water or gas) that something is wrong. This not only eliminates the risk of hidden leaks after installation but also shortens inspection time.
Installation is fast – one press operation per connection. There is no need to wait for cooling, no risk of damaging thermal insulation, and no danger of burning nearby materials. The connection is immediately leak-tight and pressure-resistant up to 16 bar at temperatures up to 110 °C, making it suitable for both hot and cold potable water systems, as well as underfloor heating, solar systems, and pressurized installations.
EPDM seals are resistant to temperature, chemicals, and long-term stress – they do not harden or crack under cyclic temperature changes. All three ends have identical sealing structures – there is no difference between the main channel and the branch.
In practice: if you are installing a system with 22 mm pipes and need to connect, for example, a radiator or tap with a 15 mm connection – this tee allows you to do so in one step. There is no need to combine two elements or use an additional reducer. This reduces the number of potential failure points and installation time.
The “green dot” mark on the fitting surface confirms correct installation – visible to the installer after pressing. The component meets DVGW requirements for potable water and can also be used in the following systems:
- central heating
- compressed air
- inert gases
- rainwater systems
- cooling systems
- fire protection systems
No additional surface treatment is required before installation. There is no need to clean or sand it – simply ensure the correct pipe length (min. 23 mm) and proper press alignment.
