Transition between press-fit system and tapered thread

The Sanpress 2311 transition fitting connects a 22 mm press-fit pipe to a 1-inch NPT external tapered thread. This solution is ideal for installations where the Sanpress Inox system must be connected to existing threaded components – such as valves, radiators, or terminal units that do not have a press-fit connection.

Both ends are made of stainless steel 316 (1.4401), ensuring corrosion resistance even in aggressive environments – for example, waters with high chloride content or hot water domestic installations. The EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene) gasket is resistant to temperatures up to 95°C and does not react with water, maintaining its elasticity and resisting aging during long-term use.

Installation and application

Installation is simple: one side is pressed onto a stainless steel pipe with an outer diameter of 22 mm – requiring only SC-Contur presses and the appropriate tool. The other side features a 1-inch NPT thread, which can be tightened manually or with a wrench – without the need for welding or thread tape. No additional gaskets or thread sealant are required – the EPDM gasket functions only on the press-fit side, while the thread provides a metal-to-metal seal.

The fitting length is 60 mm – sufficient to avoid stress during installation in tight spaces, yet compact enough not to hinder pipeline routing. The absence of an air vent or drain valve means this is a pure transition connection – with no additional functions or potential failure points.

Why it works?

Stainless steel 316 (L) is used where standard 304 is insufficient – for example, in marine installations, swimming pools, or water recirculation systems. In this case, it ensures safe operation at pressures up to 16 bar at 20°C – covering most heating and domestic hot water systems. The NPT thread (American standard) is common in imported equipment and some modern radiators – this fitting allows safe connection to the European Sanpress system without the need for adapters or reducers.
