Transition fitting with crimping and internal thread
The Type 2312 fitting is a one-piece component made of stainless steel 316 (1.4401), designed to connect an SC-Contur pipe with a diameter of 28 mm to an internal thread Rp 1 inch. This solution is intended for potable water installations and heating systems where corrosion resistance and high pressure capability are required.
The EPDM seal ensures tightness without the need for additional sealing materials, while the hexagonal design allows for safe crimping using dedicated crimping tools. All components – both the sleeve and the thread – are made from the same stainless steel, eliminating the risk of galvanic corrosion within the system.
The fitting length is 54 mm, and its design includes no additional features – no drain valve, no air vent. This simplification does not reduce functionality; on the contrary, it enhances it: fewer components mean fewer potential failure points.
For the installer – simplicity and reliability
Installation is performed standardly using a Viega crimping tool – no specialized tools or additional steps are required. Once crimped, the connection is permanent and does not require pressure testing beyond standard system verification. Important note: an uncrimped connection is not safe – the SC-Contur system functions only with the proper use of appropriate tools.
The operating pressure of up to 16 bar at 20°C allows use in most heating and water supply systems, including those with high pressure. Although the operating temperature is not explicitly stated in the data, due to the material and the EPDM seal (which operates up to 95°C), the fitting is suitable for heating installations up to 80°C and domestic hot water up to 70°C – covering the majority of practical applications.
For the end user – durability without maintenance
No need to worry about leaks, rust, or component replacement. Stainless steel 316 offers the highest corrosion resistance among stainless steels – ideal for water with high salt, chlorine, or hardness content. The EPDM seal does not harden, crack, or degrade under heat or chemical exposure. This means: the installation remains leak-tight for decades – without the need for inspection or fitting replacement.
There is no "magic" technology here. No "newness." There is good old technology, made from quality materials – and that is exactly what makes it work.
