Transition fitting between pressed connection and tapered thread
The Sanpress Inox 2311 fitting connects a pressed pipe with a diameter of 35 mm to an external tapered thread. In the manufacturer's description and on the official Viega website, the connection is designated as R thread — a standard used in European sanitary and heating installations.
The entire fitting is made of stainless steel 316 (1.4401) — both the pressed section and the thread. This ensures corrosion resistance, even during prolonged contact with drinking water, domestic hot water, or heating water with high oxygen content. The surface has a characteristic shiny appearance, which facilitates quality control during installation and maintenance of cleanliness in visible areas.
The seal made of EPDM (ethylene-propylene-diene rubber) is integrated and requires no additional sealing materials. It is resistant to temperatures from -40°C to +95°C and to chemicals used in sanitary installations — it does not degrade under the influence of chlorides or acids present in water.
The maximum operating pressure is 16 bar at 20°C — sufficient for most central heating and domestic hot water systems. The length of the fitting is 64 mm — a value confirmed by the manufacturer's technical data, regardless of other sources.
Installation is performed using standard Sanpress tools — pressing onto a 35 mm pipe is quick and requires no welding or manual threading. On the other side, the 1-inch R thread can be tightened to a valve, radiator, or other component equipped with the corresponding tapered metric thread. There is no drain valve or air vent included. This is a pure mechanical connection.
It is not intended for gas or fuel installations — it lacks the appropriate approvals or markings for such applications.
Installation may be performed only by a qualified person — both for safety reasons and to maintain the warranty. The fitting requires no special tools beyond those used for the Sanpress system.
