Backflow preventer – protection of installations and water purity

This threaded backflow preventer type BABM, with a diameter of 5/4 inch, is a key element protecting water installations from back contamination. Its construction, based on a double check valve with an intermediate chamber and a drain valve, provides reliable protection against backflow of the medium. This solution is used both in domestic and industrial installations where maintaining water purity is a priority.

Construction and principle of operation

The BABM isolator consists of several key components: two check valves made of POM (polyacetal), a brass body, and a drain valve assembly made of stainless steel, POM and brass. This combination of materials guarantees durability and corrosion resistance. In the event of backflow, an air gap is created in the intermediate chamber, effectively separating the supply zone from the drainage zone. The drain valve allows easy emptying of the intermediate chamber, which facilitates control of the device's operation and ensures its efficiency. The isolator should only be installed in a horizontal position.

Application and compliance with standards

This backflow preventer is designed for use with clean liquids, primarily water. It meets the requirements of PN-EN12729 (product standard), PN-EN1717 (protection against secondary water contamination) and EN ISO 228-1 (threaded connections). It also has SIET, SITAC, SVGW, SINTEF, UNI, ACS and PZH certificates – which confirms its high quality and safety of use. Thanks to this, the installer can be sure that the installed element meets all applicable standards. The connection length is 252 mm and the nominal diameter is 1 1/4 inch (32 mm).
