Application of air curtains

Air curtains block the air flow when opening doors or through building openings, thus isolating the interior from the surroundings. They are used in places with increased traffic, such as shopping malls, restaurants, public buildings, hotels, service facilities, medical facilities, warehouses, etc. They provide effective protection against:

• undesirable air exchange (mainly from uncontrolled inflow of outside air),
• drafts,
• the ingress of dust, pollen, insects, pests, exhaust fumes and unpleasant odours from outside into the rooms,
• losses of thermal energy,
• the penetration of sound emitted indoors into the surroundings.

By separating two air zones with different temperatures, the air curtain prevents the room from cooling down too much in winter and heating up too much in summer. As a result, the interior always has an optimal microclimate. The curtain brings the greatest benefits when separating a zone with very high temperatures from a zone with very low temperatures. There are different types of air curtains. The most popular division is into water, electric and so-called "cold" curtains (without the function of heating the air).

How does an air water curtain work?

A water curtain uses a water heat exchanger – so it requires a water installation. The water heats the exchanger, which in turn heats the flowing air. Water models are the most economical air curtains to buy and use. They are also characterized by easy operation, trouble-free installation, efficient operation and low failure rate. They are commonly used in commercial facilities and public utility buildings, such as supermarkets, hotels, restaurants, offices, office buildings or medical facilities. The use of a water curtain allows you to reduce operating costs by up to several dozen percent. It is necessary to distinguish water air curtains, which are classified as ventilation devices, from specialist water curtains used in chemical and ecological rescue to fight fire and other chemical and environmental threats. The latter create a water curtain, helping to protect people's lives and health and property from the effects of fire.
