Bathroom countertop – the most important selection criteria

A countertop installed in the bathroom is exposed to the destructive effects of water and cosmetics. Therefore, the finishing material is a key criterion for choosing a product (unless you plan to protect the surface yourself). In addition, countertops mounted under sinks should be easy to clean. In addition, when choosing a countertop for the bathroom, you should estimate your budget, because the prices of countertops vary greatly. The most expensive are wooden, glass and stone countertops, especially those made to individual order.

Wood, laminate, stone – which countertops are suitable for bathrooms?

Popular laminated bathroom countertops are durable, affordable, relatively light and thin, easy to clean, available in various patterns and colours, resistant to damage and chemicals. They are ideal for installing a countertop washbasin. On the other hand, wooden bathroom countertops are usually made to order/size from solid or glued wood, usually some exotic species, which is naturally waterproof. In the case of a native species, such as oak, impregnation is required, which must be repeated periodically. The key advantage of wooden countertops is their beautiful, noble, unique appearance - each piece is characterized by unique grain. Additionally, natural wood wonderfully creates a cosy atmosphere in the interior and adds a luxurious character to the arrangement. However, this material is quite problematic to maintain. In modern bathrooms, you can also find composite countertops (mineral-acrylic), conglomerate countertops (made of synthetic stone) and stone countertops (granite or marble).
