What types of socket wrenches are there?

Socket wrenches are most often divided by the size of the drivers. This size is expressed in inches. The most popular are the ones with dimensions of 1, 3/4, 1/2, 3/8 and 1/4 inches. In the metric system, these are 25, 20, 12.5 and 10 and 6.3 mm, respectively. The most common are the ones with the driver size of 1/2, 1/4 and 3/8 inches. These sizes are often used by car mechanics and plumbers.

Division of keys according to the type of shank

Wrenches also differ in terms of the shape of the shank. In this case, there are wrenches with a T-shaped shank, straight and socket wrenches. The former do not require a lot of pressure when unscrewing. However, they cannot be used in every situation. Socket wrenches are L-shaped and allow access to the screw from the side. They are often equipped with so-called ratchets. Thanks to them, you do not have to tear the wrench off to set it in the starting position. In addition to ratchets, you can also come across a socket, sliding and articulated knob.
