Outdoor Telecommunication Cable

This U/UTP Category 5e cable from ALANTEC is specifically designed for outdoor installations, where it is exposed to atmospheric conditions. It is ideal for telecommunication networks, CCTV monitoring systems and other applications requiring reliable data transmission outside buildings. Made of high-quality materials, it ensures stable operation and long-lasting performance.

The cable features a U/UTP (Unshielded/Unshielded Twisted Pair) construction, meaning it does not have shielding. Although the lack of shielding increases susceptibility to electromagnetic interference, in the case of outdoor installations, where distances from sources of interference are greater, this is an acceptable solution. However, it is important to maintain an appropriate distance from electrical cables and other devices that may generate interference.

Made of four twisted pairs of copper wires with a cross-section of 24 AWG, it allows data transmission speeds up to 1 Gb/s. The outer jacket made of polyethylene (PE) provides resistance to UV radiation, moisture and low temperatures, guaranteeing reliable operation in harsh weather conditions. The fire resistance class Fca, compliant with EN 50575:2014 + A1:2016 and Regulation (EU) No 305/2011, indicates the limited flammability of the material and its suitability for outdoor installations without specific fire safety requirements.

Construction Features and User Parameters

The ALANTEC KIU5OUTS500 cable has been designed with ease of installation and use in mind. Available in a convenient 500-meter spool, it facilitates installation and minimizes the risk of damage during transport and assembly. The black color of the jacket makes it easy to identify the cable and masks dirt typical of outdoor installations. Additionally, a white identification print is located every meter, making it easier to measure cable section lengths.

Compliance with PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at) enables powering network devices directly through the cable, eliminating the need for additional power sources – this is particularly useful when installing IP CCTV cameras or WiFi access points. The maximum permissible length of the power line is 100 meters with a power of up to 30W.

The electrical parameters of the cable have been selected to ensure stable and reliable data transmission: the DC resistance loop does not exceed 95 Ω/km, and the insulation resistance is at least 5000 MΩ*km. The nominal velocity of propagation (NVP) is 69%, which minimizes delays in data transmission. The cable diameter is 5 mm and its weight is 29 kg/km.
