This OM2 multimode fiber optic cable, manufactured by ALANTEC, is a robust solution for data transmission over shorter distances. Construction and protection

The cable consists of eight 50/125 μm optical fibers placed in loose tubes filled with hydrophobic gel – this provides effective protection against moisture. The whole is surrounded by a durable polyethylene (PE) jacket resistant to UV radiation and mechanical damage. Additional protection against rodents is provided by the use of aramid fibers. The green tube serves as a directional aid, making it easier to identify individual elements.

The cable has an outer diameter of 8.5 mm and a weight of 50 kg/km. The maximum tensile strength during installation is 4000 N, and during operation 2000 N. The minimum bending radius during installation is 90 mm, and during operation 60 mm. The cable operates in a wide temperature range: from -40°C to +70°C (operation), from -30°C to +60°C (installation) and from -40°C to +70°C (storage). The fire class Fca according to EN 50575:2014 means that the cable can be used in buildings without special fire safety requirements and in outdoor installations.
