4-pole power circuit breaker 80A – simple, reliable protection for installations
This is a complete thermal-magnetic circuit breaker with built-in protection – no additional modules required. It protects installations and cables against overloads and short circuits in accordance with IEC standards. Mounting is fixed, but optional DIN TH rail mounting is available – not standard, but a solution exists.
Main circuit terminals are located on the front side, and the terminal type is a cage clamp – enabling connection of conductors without the need for additional adapters. All parameters are adapted for operation in 400–440 V, 50 Hz systems.
The overload release can be adjusted in the range of 63–80 A. This means the current value at which the circuit breaker trips after a delay (e.g., during prolonged overload) can be matched to the circuit load. The setting in the neutral conductor must be synchronized with the phase settings – it cannot be adjusted independently.
The short-circuit release operates instantaneously – its setting range is 6–10 × Iu. For a rated current of 80 A, this means the circuit breaker trips at short-circuit currents from 480 A to 800 A. There is no possibility to adjust the time-delay release – its range is 0–0 A, meaning no delay even at high currents.
The breaking capacity is 25 kA at 400 V – sufficient for most industrial and commercial installations. There is no built-in earth fault protection or undervoltage release.
The IP20 protection rating requires installation in an enclosed cabinet. There is no off-position indicator or auxiliary contacts – the device is simple, without unnecessary components. Power losses amount to 16.3 W – a low value for a device of this class.
There is no motor drive or remote control capability. This is a manually operated device intended for stable installations where reliability is the priority, not additional features.
