Chain guide cable – reliability in demanding conditions
This orange HELUKABEL SHIPFLEX 109 cable, with a cross-section of 70 mm², is designed to operate in the most demanding industrial environments, especially in applications with chain guides. Its construction and materials guarantee high flexibility, resistance to mechanical and chemical damage. The cable is ideal for where standard solutions fail – in ports, on drilling platforms, and in the shipbuilding industry.
Construction and properties
This cable is distinguished by a special construction that ensures long-lasting and trouble-free operation. Made of multi-wire copper (class 6), coated with a special insulation, it is extremely flexible and resistant to repeated bending. The polyurethane outer coating protects against oils, chemicals and UV radiation. The lack of a common screen does not limit its use in many typical installations. It is worth noting the halogen-free materials, which increase safety in the event of a fire. The cable meets DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 and DIN EN 60332-1-2 standards, confirming its high fire-resistant properties.
- Mechanical strength: twisted strand class 6 provides high flexibility and resistance to material fatigue when working in chain guides.
- Chemical resistance: polyurethane outer coating protects against the action of oils, lubricants and many chemicals.
- Safety: halogen-free materials minimize the emission of toxic gases in the event of a fire.
- Wide temperature range: the cable retains its properties at both low (-40°C) and high (+80°C) temperatures.
- Radiation resistance: resistant to radiation up to 100x10⁶ cJ/kg (up to 100 Mrad).
- Marine application: specially designed for operation in harsh marine conditions (HELUKABEL® SHIPFLEX® 512).
Applications and compliance with standards
This cable is primarily used in chain guide systems, but will also work in other industrial applications requiring high flexibility and resistance to external factors. It is an ideal choice for installers working in the marine, shipbuilding and anywhere where extreme working conditions occur. It meets the requirements of UL Style 20234 and Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU (CE marking). The approximate outer diameter of the cable is 16.3 mm, which facilitates its installation and routing through installations. Remember that the AWG sizes given are approximate and the exact cross-section is given in mm².
