Shielded control cable for data transmission
This flexible, shielded PVC cable is designed for a wide range of applications in measurement, control, signal, regulation technology, and electronics. It is suitable for both industrial installations and applications requiring the transmission of pulse data. The construction with a braided shield provides effective protection against electromagnetic interference – a key feature in environments with high noise levels.
Construction and properties
The PAAR-CY-OZ 3x2x1.5 mm² cable is characterized by a solid construction. It is made of multi-wire copper conductors (class 5), insulated with special PVC (TI2). The conductors are twisted in pairs and wrapped in foil, additionally secured with a braided copper shield, which ensures high resistance to interference. The whole is surrounded by a gray outer PVC coating (TM2), resistant to oils and chemicals. The conductors are black with white numbers, which facilitates identification during installation.
The cable meets the standards DIN VDE 0812 and 0814 and has a fire reaction class Eca according to EN 13501-6. It is resistant to radiation up to 80 x 10⁶ cJ/kg (80 Mrad) and does not contain silicone or cadmium. The permissible operating temperature range is -30°C to +80°C during operation and -5°C to +80°C during installation. The rated voltage is 300/500 V.
Applications and benefits
- Protection against interference: The braided shield minimizes the impact of electromagnetic interference, ensuring stable signal transmission.
- Flexibility and durability: The multi-wire conductor construction provides flexibility and resistance to bending, making installation easier even in tight spaces.
- Conductor identification: Conductor numbering facilitates correct connection and minimizes the risk of errors during installation.
- Wide temperature range: The cable retains its properties over a wide temperature range, allowing it to be used in various environmental conditions.
- Chemical resistance: The PVC outer coating is resistant to oils and many chemicals, increasing the durability of the cable in harsh working conditions.
- Compliance with standards: Compliance with DIN VDE 0812 and 0814 standards guarantees safety and reliability.
For optimal electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), it is recommended to ensure a wide and continuous contact of the copper braid with the terminals – e.g. by using appropriate cable glands.
