Single-core rubber cable, halogen-free – reliability and safety in demanding applications
This special single-core cable with rubber insulation, manufactured according to DIN VDE 0250 part 606, is distinguished by its exceptional resistance to short-circuit loads. This is crucial in busbar feed installations, where the risk of short circuits is increased. The cable design provides high resistance to short-circuit and earth fault currents, which translates to increased safety and reliability of the entire system. The cable is perfect for use in dry environments.
Construction and properties
The NSHXAFÖ cable is characterized by a solid construction, designed for demanding industrial applications. The stranded copper conductor class 5 (DIN VDE 0295, BS 6360 cl. 5 and IEC 60228 cl. 5) ensures good conductivity, and the inner insulation made of EPR (3GI3 according to DIN VDE 0207 part 20) guarantees high electrical and mechanical resistance. The outer jacket made of halogen-free HM3 polymer (DIN VDE 0207 part 24) minimizes the emission of toxic gases in the event of a fire, increasing the safety of users and the environment. The cable is also resistant to oils and UV radiation.
Applications and benefits
The NSHXAFÖ cable finds wide application in:
- Busbar feed installations: its short-circuit resistance makes it an ideal choice for this type of application.
- Power and connection systems: ensures reliable operation even under high load conditions.
- Heavy industry: thanks to its resistance to oils, abrasion and UV radiation, it performs well in harsh industrial conditions.
- Applications requiring high fire safety: the halogen-free coating minimizes the risk of toxic gas emissions during a fire.
- Rail vehicles: the special cable design provides resistance to mechanical and electrical loads occurring in rail transport.
Additional advantages include:
- Wide operating temperature range: flexible from -25°C to +70°C and stationary from -40°C to +90°C – enables use in various environmental conditions.
- High conductor operating temperature: up to +90°C – allows for safe operation under high current loads.
- Compliance with safety standards: meets the requirements of DIN VDE and EN standards, ensuring a high level of safety.
- Low smoke and corrosive gas emission levels in the event of a fire: confirmed by tests in accordance with DIN VDE and EN standards (CPR Eca).
