Grid-inertial sludge separators – protection of installations and equipment
The IOW-100/M grid-inertial sludge separator is a device designed for effective removal of solid impurities from water or liquids in heating, district heating, cooling, water supply and industrial installations. Its operation translates into lower operating costs, repairs and maintenance of the entire system, as well as individual devices. This is particularly important in heat nodes, boiler rooms and industrial installations, where the accumulation of sediment can lead to serious failures.
IOW sludge separators replace older models according to BN - 69/8864-05, offering an improved design and higher filtration efficiency. Thanks to the two-stage cleaning process – centrifugal and collective – they effectively capture particles with a diameter of more than 0.1 mm. The magnetic version (IOW mag.) adds a third stage – magnetic, which allows for the removal of ferromagnetic particles as well.
Principle of operation and construction
The operation of the sludge separator is based on the use of centrifugal force to separate impurities from the liquid. Water entering the device gains rotational movement, causing heavier particles to settle on the walls of the tank and fall to the bottom. Then, the liquid flows through a filter mesh with a density of 196 meshes/cm², where smaller impurities are retained. The cleaned water flows out of the device through the outlet nozzle. Regular removal of accumulated sediment through the drain nozzle ensures continuous efficiency of the sludge separator.
The construction of IOW sludge separators allows you to choose different materials of execution: hot-dip galvanized steel (with PZH certificate), corrosion-resistant painted steel or stainless steel (also with PZH certificate). Variants with welding spigots, flanged or threaded are also available. The device is adapted to work at a maximum pressure of 1.6 MPa and a temperature of 150°C.
Key advantages and applications
- Effective protection: Protects installations and equipment from damage caused by mechanical impurities.
- Cost reduction: Reduces costs associated with repairs, maintenance and replacement of damaged elements.
- Versatility: Can be used in various types of installations – heating, district heating, cooling, water supply and industrial.
- Availability of variants: Possibility to choose a version with a magnetic insert (IOW mag.) for additional cleaning of ferromagnetic particles.
- Compliance with standards: Replaces older models of sludge separators according to BN - 69/8864-05.
- Simple operation: Regular removal of sediment through the drain nozzle ensures ease of keeping the device in working order.
