Backwater valve with storm gate – protection against flooding and easy access for maintenance

The valve with a storm gate is a practical solution used in sanitary and rainwater drainage systems. Usually installed in a pipe near the building and the main network, it functions as a manhole and, above all, protects against the effects of sewage backflow during heavy rainfall, thaw, or floods. This simple device protects against flooding of basements and other low-lying rooms.

Construction and principle of operation

The valve with a diameter of 400 mm with a 200 mm outlet, is equipped with a storm gate that automatically reacts to changes in flow direction. During normal operation, sewage flows freely, lifting the gate flap. In the event of backflow, the flap is pressed against the head, blocking the reverse flow. The whole process takes place automatically, without the need for intervention.

The set includes two extensions (total 140 cm), allowing installation of the valve in an excavation up to 180 cm deep. If a greater depth is required, additional extensions can be purchased. A rod with a handle allows for easy removal of the flap assembly for inspection or maintenance without the need to enter the manhole.
