Advanced protection for asynchronous motors – UBZ-301 module

The UBZ-301 module is a universal device designed for comprehensive protection of electric motors. It monitors the parameters of the power supply network and the currents in the motor circuit, ensuring reliable operation and minimizing the risk of failure. This is particularly important in applications with a power of 2.5 kW to 25 kW, as well as in installations with an isolated neutral point.

Functionality and application

The device continuously monitors the network voltage and phase and line currents, reacting to a number of irregularities. Thanks to this, it protects the motor against:

• voltage quality problems: surges, phase failures, sequence disturbances and voltage asymmetry.
• mechanical overloads: both symmetrical current overloads and asymmetries indicating internal damage to the motor. A time delay in response to overloads prevents unnecessary shutdowns during short-term loads.
• lack of torque on the shaft: this function is particularly useful for pumps, where protection against “dry running” is crucial.
• low insulation: the module checks the insulation condition before starting, blocking the start-up if problems are detected.
• short circuit to earth: protection against leakage currents to the housing increases safety.

The module provides protection by controlling the contactor coil, which ensures a quick and effective disconnection of the damaged motor from the network.

Design and mounting

UBZ-301 is available in three current versions: 5-50A, 10-100A and 63-630A, allowing you to choose the appropriate model for a specific application. The device is characterized by a compact design and easy installation – it is designed to work with existing contactors. This makes integration with the control system simple and does not require complicated modifications to the installation.
