Miniature low-voltage halogen lamp

HALOSTAR is one of the smallest halogen lamps produced by OSRAM - its length is 44 mm, and its diameter is just 12 mm. Despite its compact size, it emits a luminous flux of 1180 lm at a power of 50 W and a voltage of 12 V. A color temperature of 3000 K means a warm white characteristic of halogen technology. The pin-base type base (GY6.35) allows for quick installation in compatible fixtures - simply insert the lamp into the socket.

IRC (Infrared Coating) technology reduces heat loss by reflecting infrared radiation back to the filament. The manufacturer specifies energy consumption at a level of 54 kWh/1000h.

The color rendering index is Ra = 100 - the colors of illuminated objects are reproduced without distortion compared to natural daylight. The built-in UV filter blocks ultraviolet radiation, protecting materials sensitive to fading (fabrics, works of art).

The lamp is dimmable - a compatible dimmer allows for smooth adjustment of light intensity from minimum to full power. The absence of mercury is a characteristic feature of low-voltage halogen technology.

Applications

Low voltage requires a transformer to step down the mains voltage (230V → 12V). The lamp is approved for use in open lighting fixtures in accordance with the PN-EN 60598-1 standard.

Typical installation locations include starlight ceilings, furniture lighting (display cases, cabinets), wall sconces, and decorative fixtures in hotels and hospitality venues. In domestic conditions, it works well as general lighting for kitchens, entrance areas, or reading areas. In commercial spaces - shops, showrooms, offices, and public utility buildings.

Operating parameters

The axial filament ensures an even distribution of light around the lamp - important when designing decorative fixtures. The maximum number of switching cycles is 1 000 000. Any burning position means correct operation regardless of the inclination angle - vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.

When purchasing, remember two things: a transformer is required to step down the voltage from the mains to 12V; before replacing an old light source, it is recommended to compare the total length (44 mm) with the previous model due to possible slight dimensional differences between manufacturers.

Energy class G according to the current EU scale results from the lower efficiency of halogen technology compared to LEDs - the previous B marking better reflected its efficiency against market standards before the energy classification revision.
