Modbus Plus Proxy – The Key to Integrating Industrial Networks

This Modbus Plus proxy module, designed for the Modicon M340 platform, is a reliable link between the Modbus Plus world and modern Ethernet TCP/IP networks. It is a key solution for industrial automation systems where integration of older devices with new technologies is necessary. The module is coated with a special Humiseal 1A33 conformal coating, which increases its resistance to harsh environmental conditions and ensures long-term reliability.

The module enables communication between the Modbus Plus protocol and Ethernet Modbus TCP, providing a smooth flow of data and efficient management of industrial processes. Its design based on the Industrial Bus standard guarantees compatibility with a wide range of devices and systems. It provides access to 128 devices connected to the Modbus Plus bus, while also offering diagnostic functions, configuration control, and support for global data and peer-to-peer communication.

Versatile Interfaces and Transmission Parameters

The module is equipped with two Ethernet TCP/IP RJ45 ports and two Modbus SUB-D 9 ports, providing flexibility in network configuration. It supports transmission speeds up to 1 Mbit/s for Modbus Plus (on segments up to 450 m or with repeaters up to 1800 m) and 10-100 Mbit/s for Modbus TCP (on segments up to 100 m). It uses Token Ring access methods (Modbus Plus) and CSMA/CD (Modbus TCP), ensuring efficient communication in various network environments. The module is powered by an external 24 V DC source, with a current consumption of up to 300 mA.

Resistance and Reliability in Demanding Conditions

The module is designed to operate in a wide range of ambient temperatures from -25°C to 70°C and relative humidity from 10% to 95% (non-condensing). It can be used at altitudes up to 2000 m above sea level. The conformal coating protects it from the effects of moisture, dust and other contaminants, making it an ideal solution for applications in harsh industrial environments. This is particularly important in environments exposed to corrosion or aggressive chemicals.
