Sine wave output filter – protection and optimization of inverter operation

The SinECO-4/8 three-phase sine wave output filter is a key element improving the power quality in systems using frequency inverters. The device is designed to work with inverters with a power of 4 kW, ensuring shaping of the output voltage waveform towards a pure sine wave. This translates into the reliability and extended lifespan of connected devices, especially motors.

The SinECO-4/8 filter is designed to reduce harmonic distortion and limit the rate of voltage change (du/dt), which can negatively affect the insulation of motors and power cables. This minimizes energy losses, reduces noise, and improves the efficiency of the entire drive system. The use of CoreECO™ technology in the filter design allows for reducing core losses and limiting magnetic vibrations, which translates into quieter operation and higher efficiency.

Design and application

SinECO™ filters are dedicated to working in drive systems powered by frequency inverters. Their main task is to restore the sinusoidal shape of the voltage at the inverter output, which has a direct impact on the protection of the motor and its cabling. Using the filter limits the degradation of motor insulation, reduces energy losses, and reduces the noise level generated by the drive. Additionally, the filter unloads the inverter by eliminating parasitic capacitive currents.

The filter design is based on the use of CoreECO™ multi-slit cores, which are characterized by a modular structure, precise arrangement of slits, and the use of materials with low losses. These cores are bonded with epoxy resins, and the gaps are filled with special elements limiting the dispersion of the magnetic flux. This makes it possible to obtain smaller dimensions and weight of the filter while simultaneously reducing the noise level and energy losses. Filters can be adapted to the specific needs of a given drive system in terms of switching frequency, voltage and current.
