The types of the DS7 series are soft starters for soft starting of three-phase motors with normal switching frequency in the power range from 4 to 200 A (1.5 kW to 110 kW at 400 V). The transient switch-on and DC states during the start-up are effectively limited, guaranteeing an even start of the motor. A special starting method (asymmetric ignition control / Eaton patent) as a soft starter avoids the presence of direct current, which is usually generated with two-phase controlled soft starters. As a result, elliptical eddy fields are not formed, leading to uneven and therefore too long starting of the engine. The smooth running of the DS7 is therefore comparable to a three-phase controlled soft starter. In all versions, the inrush current of incandescent lamps and heating consumers
