Surge protector SPCT2-280/3 167595
Protection of electrical installations and devices
The Eaton SPCT2-280/3 surge protector is a key element protecting electrical installations from the effects of overvoltages, both those caused by lightning strikes and switching operations. The device effectively reduces the voltage to a safe level, protecting connected receivers. This is particularly important in modern installations, where sensitive electronics are becoming increasingly common.
Application and benefits
This three-phase Type 2 (T2) surge protector with a working voltage of 280V is widely used in various areas, including:
Electric vehicle charging stations – ensuring safe operation of devices and protecting them from damage.
Battery energy storage systems – protecting battery systems from overvoltages.
Photovoltaic inverters on the AC side – protecting inverters and ensuring continuous energy production.
Heat pumps – protecting expensive equipment from failures caused by overvoltages.
Three-phase receivers requiring strong but sensitive protection – providing reliable protection for a variety of devices.
Construction and mounting
The SPCT2-280/3 surge protector is mounted on a standard DIN TH-35 mm mounting rail and occupies 3 modules. It has an optical status indicator that informs about the need to replace the insert (red color indicates damage, and green – correct operation). Lift and screw terminals facilitate the connection of wires with a cross-section of up to 35 mm² (flexible) or 25 mm² (single-/multi-strand). The maximum overcurrent protection in series connection is 125A. The device has a protection level of 1.4 kV and a protection degree of IP20.
Compliance with standards and safety
The SPCT2-280/3 surge protector meets the requirements of IEC 61643‑1+A1 standard for Class I+II protection and EN 61643‑11 (Type T1+T2). It is designed to operate in TN, TN-S and TN-C network systems, as well as in other network systems. The maximum discharge current (8/20) is as high as 40 kA, and the rated discharge current - peak value (8/20) is 20 kA, which guarantees effective protection against strong overvoltages. This ensures increased safety of the electrical installation and devices connected to it.
