HDPE Segment Bend – Reliability and Durability in Drainage Systems
The PEHD segment bend with a diameter of 250 mm and a bend angle of 30° is a key element of the Geberit HDPE drainage system. Made of high-quality polyethylene (PE-80), it provides a durable and tight connection in water drainage installations, both inside and outside buildings. The 30-degree angle makes the bend ideal for changing the flow direction in gravity and vacuum systems.
Design and Application
The bend is designed for connecting pipes with a nominal diameter of DN 250 using butt fusion or electrofusion fittings. Its design, based on welding/fusion connections, guarantees high resistance to mechanical and chemical loads. It can be used in various applications:
- Drainage of water from buildings
- Roof drainage (both conventional and vacuum systems)
- Ground drainage
- Industrial applications
- Laying in concrete – which is particularly important in projects requiring high strength and durability.
Resistance and Material Properties
The material used – polyethylene (PE-80) – is characterized by exceptional resistance to corrosion, the action of most chemicals (approx. 95% of standard bases and acids), and UV radiation. UV protection additives allow the pipes to be stored outdoors for a long time without losing their properties. High tensile strength ensures safe use even in harsh conditions. The wall thickness of the connections (9.7 mm) guarantees connection stability and reliability. The working length of the connection is 160 mm, which facilitates proper welding of the elements. The bend has a smooth surface (raw state), which minimizes flow resistance.
