Flexible cable for EX zones – reliability and safety in harsh conditions

This blue, flexible OZ-BL 4x2.5 cable is a solution dedicated to installations in areas at risk of explosion. The cable is designed to operate in areas where special caution and high resistance to external factors are required. It is ideal as a control and measuring cable in intrinsically safe systems, ensuring the safe operation of devices in demanding industrial environments.

Construction and properties

The cable is characterized by a solid construction, ensuring long-lasting and trouble-free operation. Made of multi-wire copper conductors class 5 (according to DIN VDE 0295 / IEC 60228), it provides flexibility and ease of installation. PVC insulation (type Z 7225) and an external PVC coating (type TM2) guarantee resistance to UV radiation, weather conditions and limited oil resistance. Twisted strands minimize interference, and the blue coating color makes it easier to identify the cable in intrinsically safe systems (type -i-). The outer diameter of the cable is approximately 9.2 mm.

This cable meets strict safety standards, confirmed by the CE certificate (compliance with the Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU) and VDE-Reg.-No. 7032. Additionally, it has passed tests for vertical flame propagation (DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2 / DIN EN 60332-1-2 / IEC 60332-1-2), UV (DIN EN ISO 4892-2) and weather conditions (DIN EN ISO 4892-2).

Operating parameters and applications

The OZ-BL 4x2.5 cable is designed to operate in a wide temperature range: from -40°C to +80°C in stationary mode and from -15°C to +80°C during flexible operation. The rated voltage U is 500V, making it suitable for many industrial applications. The minimum bending radius is 7.5x cable diameter during flexible operation and 4x diameter during fixed installation. The conductor cross-section is 2.5 mm², and the mutual capacitance conductor/conductor at 800 Hz is approximately 120 pF/m. It should be remembered that the cable is not intended for laying in the ground and does not contain a protective conductor (OZ).
