Compensating cable – precision measurements and reliable connections
This compensating cable, designated as AN 9 L 2x1.5, is a key element in measurement and temperature control systems. It provides an accurate extension of the thermocouple to the measuring device, minimizing errors resulting from thermoelectric potential differences. The cable is designed to operate in a wide temperature range and is characterized by high resistance to interference.
Construction and materials – tailored to your needs
The cable construction is based on specially selected materials, guaranteeing stability and measurement accuracy. The cores are made of original or substitute materials (Fe/Cu-Ni, Ni/Cr-Ni or Pt-Rh/Pt), and the insulation is available in several versions: PVC, silicone, Teflon or fiberglass. Single-color core marking facilitates identification, and from 3 cores, pairs are additionally marked with numbers. A braided screen made of tinned steel wires (SY type) or copper (CY type) provides protection against electromagnetic interference. The choice of jacket material (PVC, silicone, fluoropolymer or fiberglass) allows the cable to be adapted to specific environmental conditions.
Application and parameters – for professionals
The compensating cable AN 9 L 2x1.5 is used in precise temperature measurements in control and measurement technology. Thanks to its properties, it is perfect as a thermocouple extension to a measuring device. The resistance of the wires has been determined in accordance with DIN 43713: Fe: 0.080 Ω/m, CuNi: 0.327 Ω/m, NiCr: 0.07 Ω/m, Ni: 0.3 Ω/m, PtRh: 0.023 Ω/m and Pt: 0.041 Ω/m. Test voltage for cables with PVC, fluoropolymer and silicone insulation is core/core and core/screen - 500 V and screen/screen - 500 V. For cables with fiberglass insulation, the core/core test voltage is also 500 V. Insulation resistance for PVC, silicone and fluoropolymer is min. 10 MΩ x km. Operating capacitance (approximate value) for 1.5 mm² link is respectively for PVC core: 135 nF/km pair screen.: 240 nF/km; FEP core: 60 nF/km pair screen.: 120 nF/km; Silicone core: 80 nF/km. Inductance (indicator) for versions with PVC, fluoropolymer and silicone is less than 1 mH/km. The cable meets the requirements of IEC 60332-1-2 regarding fire resistance.
