The acid-proof base screwed on with four pins protects the chimney against rainfall and facilitates the installation of chimney cowls, such as e.g. a fireman. Single-walled chimney liners are made of acid-resistant chromium-nickel steel sheets, grade 1.4404 according to DIN 17441, with a thickness of 0.5 to 0.8 [mm]. They are mainly used to discharge exhaust fumes from heating devices fired with gas or fuel oil, operating under negative pressure. Such chimneys are resistant to the corrosive effects of acid condensate formed during the combustion process. Water vapor condenses on the cool internal walls of the chimney and is discharged as condensate through the condensate pan at the bottom of the chimney. The phenomenon of condensation may occur at the time of start-up or cyclic operation
