Power cable for submersible pumps – reliability and safety in contact with drinking water

This blue power cable, designated CLEAN CABLE 4G2.5 mm², is specifically designed to power submersible pumps used for drawing drinking water. Its construction and materials guarantee safe and long-lasting operation even in demanding conditions. The cable meets strict European standards for contact with water intended for human consumption, as confirmed by numerous certificates and approvals.

Construction and application

The cable is manufactured in accordance with IEC 60502-1. It uses multi-wire copper conductors class 5 (DIN VDE 0295 / IEC 60228) insulated with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE). The conductors are color-coded according to HD 308 S2, which facilitates identification during installation. The outer sheath is made of cross-linked, halogen-free plastic in blue (RAL 5015). This makes the cable environmentally friendly in case of fire and does not release toxic gases.

The CLEAN CABLE cable is perfect for the following applications:

• Powering submersible pump motors for drinking water – submersible to a depth of 600 meters.
• Installations in chlorinated and ozonated swimming pool water (at room temperature).
• Applications requiring high resistance to atmospheric conditions and mechanical damage.

• Admissions for contact with drinking water: Hygienic Certificate NIZP-PZH and approvals KTW (Germany), WRAS (Great Britain), ACS (France) and D.M.174 (Italy) guarantee safety of use in drinking water supply systems.
• Wide operating temperature range: Flexible operation from -25°C to +50°C, and stationary from -40°C to +80°C. The maximum operating temperature of the conductors in drinking water is +40°C, and temporarily +50°C, while on the conductor +90°C.
• Resistance to external factors: Ozone resistance (DIN VDE 0473-811-403 / EN 60811-403) ensures long-term reliability in harsh environmental conditions.
• Durable construction: Multi-wire copper conductors provide flexibility and resistance to material fatigue. Minimum bending radius is 5 x outer diameter of the cable.
• Operating voltage: The cable is designed to operate at a voltage of 0.6/1kV, and the test voltage is 4000V.
