Rubber cable for short-circuit protection – reliability in harsh conditions
This single-core rubber cable, manufactured according to DIN VDE 0250-602, is a specialized solution for applications requiring high short-circuit resistance. It is ideal for situations where standard cables fail – in rail vehicles, buses, trolleybuses, and also in low-voltage switchgear. Its construction and materials guarantee safe and long-lasting operation in demanding environments.
Construction and properties – the key to safety
The NSGAFÖU cable stands out with its solid construction. The multi-wire copper conductor, class 5 (DIN VDE 0295), provides good flexibility and conductivity. The EPR insulation (type 3G13 according to DIN VDE 0207) and polychloroprene (CR type 5GM3 according to DIN VDE 0207) coating protect against mechanical damage, the influence of chemical factors (oil resistance according to DIN VDE 0473-811-404/DIN EN 60811-404) and high temperatures. The cable is also flame retardant (DIN VDE 0482-332-1-2, DIN EN 60332-1-2/IEC 60332-1-2).
It is worth noting the wide range of operating temperatures – flexible from -25°C to +80°C and stationary from -40°C to +80°C, with a maximum permissible operating temperature of +90°C. The operating voltage is U0/U 1800/3000 V, and the test voltage is as high as 6000 V. The minimum bending radius is 10x the cable diameter for flexible laying and 6x the diameter for stationary laying.
Applications and benefits for installers and users
The NSGAFÖU cable is the ideal solution wherever protection against short circuits is a priority. Its special properties make it suitable for:
Public transport: rail vehicles, buses, trolleybuses – provides safe power supply to electrical devices in demanding operating conditions.
Low-voltage switchgear: protection against the effects of short circuits in critical points of the installation.
Industry: applications requiring resistance to oils and high temperatures.
Temporary installations: where high flexibility and resistance to mechanical damage are required.
Thanks to its high short-circuit resistance, this cable minimizes the risk of failures and downtime, which translates into savings for the end user and reliable operation for the installer. Recommended laying in dry rooms/devices further increases its durability and reliability. A 6 kV version is also available on request, as well as an orange color (RAL 2000).
