Universal electrode for stainless steels – reliability in any position

The MOST 308L-16 welding electrode with a diameter of 2.5 mm is a proven choice for welding high-alloy steels, especially those containing 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Thanks to its rutile coating, it provides a stable arc and easy ignition, which translates into comfortable work for both experienced welders and those just starting their welding adventure.

Application and characteristic features

This electrode is dedicated to welding austenitic stainless steels, stabilized with niobium or titanium, as well as ferritic steels from the 13% Cr group. Its versatility will be appreciated by installers working on various structures – from equipment elements to more complex industrial systems. It ensures high-quality welds, resistant to intergranular corrosion up to 350°C. Additionally, the self-peeling slag makes cleaning up after welding easier and shortens project completion time.

Parameters and mechanical properties

The MOST 308L-16 electrode is characterized by high strength parameters: yield strength (Re) exceeds 360 N/mm², and tensile strength (Rm) is in the range of 540–610 N/mm². Elongation (A5) is over 32%, and impact strength (KV) is higher than 80 J at 20°C. The chemical composition of the electrode has been precisely selected (C < 0.03; Si < 0.90; Ni = 9–11; Mn = 0.90; Cr = 18–21; FN ≈ 8%), which guarantees optimal weld properties. Classification EN ISO 3581-A: E 19 9 L R 12 and AWS A5.4: E 308 L-16 confirm compliance with international quality standards.

Welding should be performed with direct current, with the plus connected to the electrode. The electrode can be used in all welding positions except vertical down. A stable arc and good rheological properties of the weld allow for precise weld execution even in the vertical position.
